From short story, The Course of Kind

Another revision, a different ending.

The envelope is from Indiana University Department of English.  The letter from my friend; in this day of electronics he still sends mail.

Dear Parker,

We hope this finds you both well.  It is long since we have seen one another.  I am writing to let you know we are attending the Jefferson College alumni reunion and hope you are there also.  We should not let so much time come between us, we are too old for it.

Love to you both,

K. R.

P.S.  Do you recall the times talking Keats in the coffee shop?

I have held out a capable hand, the hand did not grow cold, and I do recall:

Remembrance of youth

 never distant

   of loss

   of gain

   of revelations

A summer afternoon.
